Field Note: The hidden work behind a small website change

One thing I've noticed when managing multiple language versions of a website is how much manual work even a small change can involve.
Take a link, for example. If I change a link on one language version, I can't just run the whole page through the translation process again. That would overwrite all the other links that have already been localised for each language.
Instead, I have to go into each language version and update the link manually. It's a small change, but across multiple languages, these things add up.
It's also a good example of why managing multilingual websites involves more than just translating content. The way changes are handled in the backend matters, too.
